We used a Women’s Weekly vanilla butter cake recipe using rice milk and nuttlex as substitutes. We made a couple of these cakes and cut to shape and used skewers to pierce through and attach the top tier to the bottom. The cones were seemingly failsafe from Coles but we just took them off to be safe.
The marshmallows were not failsafe but we gave my daughter a piece without these and added a large failsafe pascalls marshmallow from Allergy Train to her plate. Figurines were all from Big W originally and part of her toy collection that we raided but any would do.
The doors were cut wafers that weren’t failsafe and we just took these off when it was time to cut the cake. We iced with buttercream icing that used nuttlex instead of butter and to colour pink we added a couple of teaspoons of juice from a tin of beetroot (can’t taste this). The cake is sitting on top of blue ready-roll icing to look like water. This isn’t necessary but my daughter was keen. We just gave her part of the top tier.
